NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT – FIRE PROTECTION

CITY OF CHARLOTTE – NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING – Special Assessment District

The City of Charlotte Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Charlotte City Hall Council Chambers, 111 E Lawrence Ave, Charlotte, MI 48813 to consider the distribution of a special assessment to defray 85% of the annual estimated costs for fire protection as provided under MI Public Act 33 of 1951, as amended.  The proposed hearing shall consider the assessment roll on the properties to be specially benefitting.

Persons with disabilities who require assistance in order to participate in the public meeting should contact the City at the earliest opportunity by emailing the City Clerk at clerk@charlottemi.org or by calling (517) 543-2750.

Hydrant Flushing

You are hereby notified that beginning at 4:00 p.m. on

Monday, April 22, 2024

the City of Charlotte will begin flushing water mains and
will continue during the daytime on April 23 rd . This may
cause some temporary discoloration of the water that can
be cleared by running water for several minutes.

LAWN CARE

The City of Charlotte will receive sealed bids for mowing of properties
throughout the City. Bid documents may be requested from the Department of
Public Works Office by calling 517-543-8858. Bids will be accepted at the
Office of the City Clerk, City of Charlotte, City Hall, 111 East Lawrence
Avenue, Charlotte, Michigan 48813 until Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 2:30 p.m.
EST. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids can be mailed or placed in
one of the City drop boxes located at City Hall. Mark plainly on the outside of
the envelope; Lawn Care Bid & quote;. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids

PUBLIC NOTICE – CITY WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK

CITY WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK!

Contrary to misinformation circulating on Facebook, the City of Charlotte’s water is safe to drink.  Sparrow Eaton Hospital has their own water system that they operate for their facilities.  The City was notified by the State of Michigan that Sparrow Eaton Hospital had exceedances of copper levels in their system.  This issue is specific to the hospital.  Out of an abundance of caution, it was the hospital that made the decision about drinking the water for their facilities only.

DDA Meeting for December is Cancelled

There is no new business for a Downtown Development Authority meeting in December, 2023. The next regularly meeting of the DDA Board will be held on January 16, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of the City of Charlotte.

Christmas Tree Pickup

The City of Charlotte will be picking up Christmas trees the week of Monday, January 8, 2024.

Residents should have their trees at the curb by 7 a.m. Monday, and DPW will be picking them up throughout the week.

Please note! All trees must have the decorations removed and cannot be in plastic bags.
